Week 2 Letter Home (10/25/2011)

Group email,
So this concludes my second week... and what a wild ride. After i wrote last week, that night Richard G. Scott came to speak with us. Since i don't really have time to formulate a new set of thoughts about it, i'll just give an excerpt from my journal.
"I don't think words quite describe the experience of hearing Elder Richard G. Scott speak tonight. His talk was simple but his testimony was powerful. As an Elder in my district put it, he didn't bear his testimony, he bore a perfect knowledge. Through his inspired words our district was almost struck dumb, after hearing him none of us wanted to break the silence. Every missionary i've talked to since has felt a renewed sense of purpose. I have personally never been so close to an apostle of Jesus Christ. Sometimes I found myself simply staring at him. The spirit that he and all of the missionaries brought into that room was almost tangible. I felt like i could just reach out and touch him. His power of conviction touched my heart. He is a man, but the power and love of Christ are displayed so brilliantly in his countenance that I couldn't help but wonder, is this similar to the feeling of meeting the savior?"
Of course the next day (as a result of p-day) our lesson with our investigator went terribly and we felt like we had just forgotten everything. So we evaluated, and the next day worked so hard to invite the spirit, and to prepare the message that God wanted us to give. The lesson was amazing. We were saying things we probably didn't even know and answered all of her questions. The spirit was so strong as we taught about the Plan of Salvation that after we testified to her, we invited her to be baptized and she said yes without hesitation. It was an amazing experience. A testament that if you work hard and trust in the lord, He will touch the hearts of those you teach.
My companion got his visa and he left like an hour ago. Sad day. But my new companion is the District Leader, Elder Hodgmon. He's a great guy and I think we'll work well together. "If ye are prepared ye shall not fear right?" They've been stepping up the intensity of our training, constantly putting us out of our comfort zone, but I know that if i continue to place my faith in the Lord he'll support me.

Love you all!
Elder LeFoll
